Teaching in Lifelong Learning: a journal to inform and improve practice

image of journalThis journal aims to support and promote the work of the designated Centres for Excellence in Teacher Training (CETTs). The journal will publish original contributions on the subject of teaching, learning, teacher education and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for and within the Lifelong Learning Sector. The editors will invite papers which report on research and development projects with a focus on the improvement of teaching and learning and of the curriculum in relation to teacher education and CPD in the Lifelong Learning Sector (LSS).  The Lifelong Learning Sector includes Further Education, Work-Based Learning, Adult and Community Learning, Voluntary Sector, Prison sector and Higher Education.

The journal will also publish brief reports (200-500 words) on projects and work-in-progress. This is for two reasons: firstly, the sector includes a wider range of contributors than is found within the traditional HE sector and there is a need and desire on the part of this wider market to contribute to the knowledge and debate in this field; secondly, there are a considerable number of action research projects being undertaken (and on a regular basis) that are not developed into academic papers or reported to a wider and targeted audience; one of the roles of CETTs is to ensure that the dissemination of such activity is effected and across the LLS.

The aim of the journal is not to compete against the standard academic journals, but rather it is to provide a platform for those teacher educators (in particular) who have not been published previously and to offer an opportunity for us to share our work that we have completed as CETTs with a wider audience.
